Calvin Johnson retired from the NFL in his prime. Here's why... My Music/Vlog Channel:althe.info/home/rFLqe8DOrHyq3S1_LlqtNQ.htmlINSTAGRAM: flemlorapsTWITTER: FlemLoRaps
Rod Wood is the blame
Lions had the greatest RB and arguably the greatest WR ever and both retired in their primes because the team was so 👎
I know everyone hurts after a football season. But guy like Calvin Johnson, Gronk, and other huge dudes SURELY take a lot of extra punishment on every tackle because of their sheer size. But they’re still flesh and blood, it takes it’s toll
He should go to the mlb
Calvin Johnson was a phenomenal athletic . One of the best I’ve ever seen , but most of all , He’s a phenomenal person . Much respect to you Calvin Johnson !
Heath over career and Money. Can’t blame him.
I don't even watch football, but I watch this dudes videos because he always got some good shit to say.
Great vid. Lions are trash when it comes to taking care of the guys when they leave.
Should have got traded to greenbay
Realistically, you might as well retire after your 10th season. Get through your rookie contract Get your BIG contract (depending if you did good and trained hard) Retire after said big contract regardless if youre in your prime. Theres no point beyond that besides the love of playing the game but youre costing your body at that point. You have more than enough money (Given you invested it wisely) so you dont have to worry. You can now travel the world start a family and be happy. I hate seeing so many people get old in the game and get injured or eventually get cut by the organization who flourished so much of them because their body is beat. Do I miss Megatron? As a bears fan yes because he was always amazing to see 2x a year, but body and mind first man, and if they really did him dirty like that I feel sorry for dude.
Him and Barry Sanders retired with more to give. The lions make players lose love for the game
the lions have a long history of treating their star players horribly, it all began with bobby layne 62 years ago
“And, oh yeah Detroit, we comin!” 🐅
Jerry Rice and Megatron...top 2 for sure. Great video!
I'm from and live in Detroit. I haven't been a fan of the Lions since Barry Sanders retired, and I knew as you were talking why Calvin retired early...the same as Barry Sanders. It's obscene for those 2 players to have never won a super bowl...not even been in a super bowl, and then you add the injuries. Calvin will always have my love and respect. Now I look at football here on youtube...the highlights. That's enough for me. People in Detroit are stupid. You're willing to support a losing organization, that's not even trying to get to the superbowl...not even trying to win the division. Why can't they get coaches like Andy Reid, who now coaches the champions Kansas City, but before that...how many super bowls has he been to and won. Tony Dungy years ago wanted to coach the Lions...they choose his assistant, who of course didn't win. Just a losing organization. But you supporters continue to spend your money. To an organization that doesn't care about you.
That Bengals bit was hilarious!!
If this is a Business as you say, then the options must be weighed and if Baseball is an option is always the right choice. I'm wrong? Ask Dave Winfield. He was drafted by the NFL, NBA and MLB. He's in the MLB HOF. All that said.. apparently "MegaTron" did just fine for himself and I wish all these young Men nothing but the best!!!
I am glad I found your channel. Good piece
I don't blame him for retiring. Football isn't everything. The Detroit Lions are the worst run organization in sports. Unfortunately, until the Ford family sells the team, the Detroit Lions will never win a championship.
That's why these bums are cursed, they will never win anything. What a shame!!!
One of the goats.....pity it was Detroit. Barry sanders springs to mind too
See you rep that blue moon..good stuff
Nahh cuz i think they called him megatron cuz he used to always catch sam from the top of the building when they were fallling
DK Metcalf s older brother
Honestly what he did without much help around him I don’t see how he doesn’t get in the hof first ballot
Really liked Megatron one of the greats and we have something in common, I don't watch football no more either
I just found your channel yesterday, and dude, you are top shelf! AND you're a fellow Bengals fan too?! Who Dey!
Most un-guardable WR I have ever seen....Watch the 269 yd game against Dallas, pure epic.....
ask for a trade I want to go play with the patriots imagine him and Brady together omg bro
If I’m a 123 pick I’m telling my agent no way I’m I going to the lions
as a life long lions fan, I miss Megatron so much because of the kind of person he is. he's a perfect example of a great player and great role model. and I don't think I'll ever fully forgive the organization for how they treated him or the franchise in general. the owners are garbage and they've wasted so many great talented careers. but I'm happy to hear that he's doing well and doing what he loves. he's hall of fame in the game of life, first ballot.
He watches, don't believe that nonsense.
Lions are starting to get a history of mistreating their players.
He got out at the right time. Detroit has ruined so many careers with their clown show front office picking bad coaches and mismanaging the roster. Good for him get your money then bounce.
One more reason to hate JaMarcus Russell
Always wondered why the Lions played on Thanksgiving. The more you know
Megatron opening a dispensary in my hometown!!! How dope is that... No pun intended
Barry Sanders did the same thing walked away from the Detroit Lions in his prime because that team has always SUCKED. They have never been good and they were never going to be good and it makes no sense to damage and perhaps permanently injure your body for a team as weak as the Detroit Lions. The owner needs to spend a little bit more money and FIRE MATT PATRICIA AND THE GM to bring a championship to that part of America.
Shout out to Calvin for showing the light of cannabis use over opioid use
I had no idea Calvin Johnson played baseball! Its surprising that his mom was ok with him picking Football over Baseball considering the injury risks. Don't get me wrong it was fun watching him dominate on the gridiron but It would have been fun to see him play on the diamond.
Lions is an trash organization. Sad I'm a die hard lions fan, and how they could do that do our GOATS. They need to sign him to an 1 day contract 5 million and pay him his money and then some. Properly retire him.
When getting out of bed is becoming a challenge its time to retire. These guys pay a huge price but at least they get paid. Try being a ski jumper.. That "a love of the game thing" i guess
I don’t care
Yeah, the lions organization has the tendency to turn their employees and former employees off of football.
I played from 7th grade till my junior year in high school. I tore my ACL and meniscus my freshman year and again in my junior year and again after highschool. While I was in two a days my junior year I decided that my body was done. So they sent our defensive captain to talk to me. After I just told them why I couldn't do it no more. He got with me and asked me to give it till the end of the first game to decide. I reluctantly agreed. By the way they also punished me for doing what I did. By sitting me out till the second half. So I started the first defensive play of the half. First play I felt great. The second play I caught the rb coming threw the hole and roped arms with him as I was being blocked. His momentum twisted me while my cleat stuck in the grass. And wouldn't you fucking know my ACL snapped like a rubberband and I went down. I was helped off the field and cried like a baby because I really knew it was over at this point. I cried almost uncontrollably throughout the rest of the game. As football was my identity and I didn't know what to do. But what really hurt is that coaches treated me as though I was lying about having surgery. Because it took a few months to happen. I was a tough kid. I even finished out my freshman year after the first injury. I only missed two games. I wasn't one to make excuses or complain during conditioning. I stayed in the gym during the off season preparing for the next season. So I was fully dedicated to the game. I had the surgery and everything was good for about two years. I was playing a pickup game of basketball and I blew my right ACL and meniscus out. So I became disappointed with sports and list my interests in them.
FUCK THE NFL AND THE RACISTS ASS OWNERS WHO OWN THE NEW AGE SLAVE TRADE
That's how the NFL business is. It's good he left when he did, just like Barry Sanders. That's why the loins suck now!!!!
If pro sports had more guys with Calvin's mindset, perhaps they would not be experiencing record low fan support. MAGA 2020.
He left because he felt his body wasn't the same in I rather for bruh to be healthy rather hurt
Lions = TRASH
You forgot the story of Bobby Lane putting the 50 year curse on the Lions
Cause the shit is rigged
Roy Williams was a beast too. I was wondering why he disappeared
He was good. I remember watching him. Like anything in life, not just in sports, s**t happens -to all of us real megatrons!
Megatron was nasty....
Still dont get why he went to g tech
This made me hate the lions even more, thanks.
Respect Consonants. Holy hell.
Only thing I didn't agree with was the take on Stafford of him just throwing it up and Calvin went and got it. Yes, that happened a lot, jump ball in the end zone being the most common. But many many many times Stafford dropped it right in his bucket and he had no choice BUT to catch it. Put come respect on Stafford
Im not gonna lie that was insperanial
Calvin listened to his mother. That’s why the loins will never win any Super Bowl. Racism plays a hug role. The truth is he walked away for serval but two that are important. First health Calvin is able to walk and tech . Second Barry Sanders advise or shall I say told megaton the truth about the organization
I love that Jamarcus Russell clip!!!!😂😂😂😂😂. That's about how long his career was. But he got that 🤑🤑🤑🤑 first
I swear this brotha wuz sucha beast that him saying he was the best in the game doesn't even sound arrogant at all. Jus the honest to God truth. Sure I hated seeing him retire so early but hey I can't b mad at a man thinkn about his well being. It's more important than football
Great segment. Many former players stop following the game. Most likely played from adolescence into teen’s and then their twenties, and on. Been there, seen it and done it mentality. Football 🏈 overload. 🤛🏼❤️🇺🇸
He might have been taking extra vicodin to cover the pain of playing for the Lions. I feel kinda bad for him that they treated him that way.
Love your vids bro...well researched and great content. Much love to Calvin Johnson, he deserved better from the Lions, glad he is such a level, aware and intelligent person who knew his physical limits and has the humanity to pay it forward.
Got me thinkin' you need to do one on Andrew Luck. Dude was way too talented and the Colts had too much upside for him to have given up like he did. Especially because it was right on the cusp of Colts greatness. I get some of it and understand how callous and ruthless professional sports can be, but would appreciate another's perspective on the matter, in case I'm missing something. I get that he came from a stable home and had decent alternative career options, but he seemed to have a competitive fire beyond simply play-for-play and wouldn't retire as surprisingly as he did. Just seems like there is a bit more under the surface than most of us would get from cursory glances at headlines.
barry sanders is that other lion that retired in his prime. history repeats
Lost love for the game and chose to live his life and deal with his injuries instead. Just being a better husband and parent.... Florida boy!!!
Him and wwe superstar roman reigns was teammates
Georgia Tech wasn’t a triple option back when Calvin Johnson went there
MEGATRON CALVIN JOHNSON DON'T PAY NO MAN NO MIND!
Calvin Johnson the man
You know your team is bad when EVERY documentary is shameful and their only credit is Thanksgiving entertainment.
As a lions fan I'm glad Barry and Calvin walked in their prime. They got the bag and can walk good with no cte making good investments yea they did it right. FUCK THE LIONS
No Brainer !!!! He DEFINITELY belongs in the HOF !!! I can't believe FORD was that petty regarding the signing bonus ?! He was injured playing for them. This story also touches upon the hypocrisy of legal opioids vs illegal marijuana ???? I still cant wrap my head around that one.
Georgia Tech was not an option team then. Paul Johnson didn’t come until 2008.
Because the game is rigged and also some soul selling is involved.
The Lions also drove Barry Sanders into early retirement. Not a good trend.
I respect Calvin and Barry for put there family and themselves before the game. It’s a business these guys get the tar beat out of them. God bless
Boycott the NFL
Perfect specimen of a human
Cincinnati is a trash ass team. They will FIND a way to lose.
Along with Aaron Rodgers, another "should been a Raider, but they passed."
I guess the Ford family are some jackasses.
Same reason Barry Sanders retired in his prime n would have broke every record if he stayed
Great video as always! Loved watching him play.
He learned about the central banking system, federal reserve, and how the world actually is.
Love the blue moon shirt bro!
damn 15.9 avg yard per catch with 731 career receptions in only 135 games....thats fucking awesome for a 9 year nfl career with probably one of the worst teams of his era.....like seriously you can't only say one word to define him dominate..........
He dominated all the earthlings of the NFL 😂
Guy's a legend. In ff you picked a qb first unless Calvin Johnson was still on the board. Randy Moss is probably his only contemporary. Jerry Rice has more accolades, but was not more gifted.
Dudes do walk away lol its called Barry Sanders
would be the goat of wide outs
So damn fed up with the Lions. My two favorite players would rather retire than continue to play the game they loved.
why any great player would want to play for the Lions in the first place ? Can a player turn down a draft pick ?
Uhhh Manning did. Get drafted by the Lions, sign a lucrative contract. Then go elsewhere for a chance at the SB.
Thank you for this..as a Lions fan I despise the Fords so much I wont even drive one
What a beast
