Tony Romo had a long career with the Dallas Cowboys filled with a few highly publicized bad moments. That overshadowed an otherwise really solid career. INSTAGRAM: flemlorapsTWITTER: FlemLoRaps
Tony Romo's greatest strength was also his greatest weakness: masking deficiencies on the team. He did it so well that he fooled Jerry Jones into not providing him any help. It wasn't until he went down in 2015 that Jerry decided to do something about that, which was too late. In fact, any time he went down, the deficiencies on the team became glaringly obvious.
you can say the same for dak and andy dalton. our starting and backup qbs both are injured.
He was never a top tier guy. Inability to not make mistakes at critical moments coupled with NEVER winning 2 playoff games in the same year was a problem too. Lack of any real O-Line last 3 years didn't help either.
Anyone that makes .millions playing football had a good life
If Romo had been able to run it in for a touchdown after that botched snap it would be a legendary play in his favor. It would have labeled him major clutch.
What you should've done for shits and giggles and after the wayne you say "he played for the cowboys"
Patrick crayton lost that playoff game to the giants.
The suggestion makes you an idiot.
Cowboys had a Mexican QB? Nada Super Bowl
I've got news for you, as a bear's fan we would have taken Tony Romo in a heartbeat for his career over Rex Grossman and Jay Cutler. Romo's biggest problem was that he played for Dallas which was a team that despite mediocre talent had the same expectations every year. You put him on a mid-level team then it gives him a chance to overachieve and completely change the perspective of his career.
I never liked Romo because I was an Eagles diehard fan. I was wrong! Looking back now and listening to him do color commentary I believe he's the smartest analyst out there today! I would give anything to have my hometown team the Eagles hire him as QB coach or offensive coach to teach Carson Wentz all the things that come out of Romo when he analyzes any game he's broadcasting! He's the best out there!!
Jerry, Garrett and romo killed my cowboys!
Stupidest question EVER. The guy was great...if he looked up he could see elite barely out of reach. You know nothing about foot all if you say he sucked. LMAO.
Bruh you speak facts. He’s a dope commentator tho.
Romo was a victim of his own athleticism. He was a great athlete playing quarterback, not a great quarterback. He probably could of played shortstop for the Yankees, but just wasn’t great. Just a great athlete
That 2014 season they should've been 14-2 and held the NFC Championship game, I think that Monday Night Game loss at the Redskins cost them the 1st seed which would've put them at least 13-3 but that following week against the Cardinals without Romo was also a big blow to their Franchise record breaking season. I truly thought that would be the year the Cowboys return to the Superbowl. Everyone else finished 12-4 or less.
Bro you hit nail on head, every point you said is reason I hated him 1st 3 years sealed it for me. Plus all playoff losses. He was held to standard of Aikman and Strawbach
I always been a Cowboys fan dating back to 1972 NFC champingship game Staubach pulled out at the end against John Brodie of 49ers. In my opinion Tony Romo was the best QB the Cowboys ever had. He was like Staubach in that they always had a chance to win at the end . So that being said and Staubach being my hero. I take Staubach or Romo agains any other QB to play the game. Tony Tiger has no reason to hang his head, he was great ! William Bass
Romo was still an ELITE QB. Everyone forgets Miles Austin's drop passes in the endzone, T.O.'s dropped passes in the endzone. Dez Bryant's pass reversed.
As someone who lives an hour away from Dallas fuck tony romo
tony romo sucks
You gave a pass on Andy Dalton for being a backup for the pro bowl. And tony technically made the pro bowl lol i want andy to dallas video.
Romo had it figured out at the end of his career. He was finally able to read defenses, Manning style, and was shredding defenses in the couple of games he played without a broken back.
low key sounds like lemar jackson. like i am a skins fan but i still love lamar. but if he losesthe first round in this years playoffs people will start looking at him like romo. witch i hope not but it may be coming his way.
Jason Garrett happened to him.... kneecapped at coaching and ownership. But I do respect Dallas’s business management
So my anology is that he was the Alex Smith of his time not the best but a top quarterback in passing yard
Call me names if you want but Romo was my QB and I believe the team failed him way more often than he failed the team.
this video should be 2 hours long, you missed so many details
Life long Dallas fan, Tony and Jason kept their jobs by being the biggest brown nosers to JJ. Tony had the best stats against lousy opponents, but if he played any half decent team or a big game....Tony became the chokest choker the nfl has ever known.....having said that Dallas problems have one source and that is JJ. Tony the choke happened because of JJ. Tony was the second coming of Danny white, but with a larger choke factor.
Yes, a better career than I thought.
Romo was my dude he was solid
It’s funny watching videos about Romo only cause I went to high school with him for a couple years. he’s a little older than me but I still played basketball with him and did football and basketball camps with him during the summers back then. Prob one of the most down to earth nicest guys you can meet
Just because he didn't win the big one doesn't mean he wasn't good... If we go by the numbers he was better than aikman
One thing was for sure. My boy was tough. Wish we had a better team to get him the ring he deserves
Coming from a 35 yr diehard cowboys fan Tony nomo was highly overrated just a good seasonal QB typical( BUM)
Man, I feel like this could be a Matt Stafford video lol
Man did Jerry Jones FAIL the cowboys 👎🏽, he had a chance to lock up Peyton as a head coach they BOTH went to eastern Illinois played QB, like WTF. Man that duo of Peyton and Romo “would” of been legendary
I always felt like it was case of 'which Romo are we getting?' It was either, '1 minute to go, march 90 yards up the field and score' or 'hey, lets throw a pass to a wide open....Safety' LOL
Rome was a good quarterback and he definitely didn’t suck!
I agree with you that the cowboys got robbed!
You are a great described of tony romp and you make it so interesting! Great job.
Being a cowboys fan all my life, there were plenty of games I hated Romo, but the dude played hard and left it all on the field.
Stat monster without the self image to be a Superbowl champion. A kid from a town of 10,000, playing for Eastern Illinois playing for America's team what more could he want? I knew it would never happen for him when his personal life peaked. Partying with Britney Spears, then the huge contract in 2013 I think.
FlemLo...got the info.... From Kellen Winslow Al the way 2 T Romo.....
He only sucked when it mattered. He wasn't bad unless something was on the line.
In that Giants playoff game Patrick Crayton dropped a wide open TD. Had he not done this the INT at games end wouldn't have happened.
Romo is all heart. His dad tells a story about being late and unable to take 15 year old Tony to a HS basketball game. When he is finally driving home, he comes across Tony, on a bicycle, in a blizzard riding the 15 miles to get to the game. It made his dad cry. Let the people say what they want. We're talking about a league where Jay Cutler was a 1st round talent and didn't want it. Romo's journey, alone, makes him worth remembering.
Didn’t mention where he ranks during his time in terms of 4th q comebacks/game winning drives...we know he lost some but also won a lot more. It’s just when he lost those few they were memorable losses
Tony romo doesn't suck...he just always collapsed when it mattered most
Tony Romo did not rise to the occasion in big games couldn't have said it better but Tony Romo is also freaking stinking awesome. Teasing cowboy fans Tony Romo is a better announcer than he was a quarterback LOL
Romo overrated as a player and a commentator
The cowboys have made a lot of average players rich..
Romo didn't suck, in fact he was pretty great, unfortunately...a Romo meltdown was unlike any other meltdown. Other QB's gaffed, he downright imploded. During his tenure, Cowboys losses were often something to see. He was not only one of the most clutch QBs of all time, but somehow also the antithesis of that in the most important moments.
Sean Peyton had his eye on romo because he also went to eastern Illinois
I always dig your perspective. You give the truth with a positive attitude.
I always thought he was great, yes, a couple of bad picks and such, but the real challenge was dealing with a weak O-line during the beginning of his career and a defense that basically sucked the majority of the time. Come on, how many times were they up in the 4th QTR, and the defense gave up the winning touchdown and Romo had to try and come back? And OMG, all the games they scored over 30+ points and they still lost!?! Any other team would have won with 30+ games.
I bet he wishes he could take that statement back “Cowboys defense isn’t what it is today” haha
Shit teams, we lost playoff games we had no business being in. He was also runner up mvp 2014
I don't know why people are surprised? Mexicans been in the league maybe not as QB mostly as offensive lineman. I don't care what race you are if you can ball then get it. Peace ✌️
idc what ppl say dude was a player. Just look at his girlfriends
as a cowboys fan, yes he sucked.... he would play like shit till the 4th qtr, then mount a lil comeback, lose, then the stupid fucking cowboys fans would be like awwwwww he played so hard. NO HE SUCKED. the only year i thought he was great was the year that Dez caught it
First he said it was a better catch then throw ....then he said he threw it perfectly lol
19:12 had me fucking sent 😂 he said "god damn hilarious" lmao Yes they were! But Romo gets judged by fans pretty harshly but sometimes warranted. I think his time in the booth will continue to change people's perspective of him and hopefully his time under center.
I really like him as a commentator.
I'm a Giant's fan and for a couple of years my screen saver was Romo holding his helmet after the muffed field goal. But I have to pay him his respect, he was a regular season beast
How did Tony compare to Danny White?
I've been a Cowboys fan since moving to Plano Tx at age 7 in late 1975, and that's been very hard since Aikman. Too much flash, too many egos, an owner that should just mind his business, a soft young Jason Garret as coach, who was a back up QB to Aikman etc. I thought Romo had all the potential but had too many individual misfits on the team to work with, and dictator QB wasn't his style. They needed an Aikman or someone to whip the team in shape. 2nd, Romos an "all around" athlete that is the type to throw his car keys up and catch them behind his back under a leg, and NOT a die hard QB, (also what they needed in his yrs). He had Jason Whitten, who could have been a Cowboy in 1978, (old school and real), and that was about it. Too many idiots on his teams.
"Their defense was not what it is today" I sure fuckin hope not
If it wasn't for Romos play the Cowboys would've been 3-13 yearly.
So you don't hsve a problem with the Giants flying to Miami 1 day before a playoff game, but , Romo can't take a vacation on a week off. GTF outta here!!!!
I'll always love #9! Fan for life!
You lack actual facts on your videos and just present half truths along with your opinions. And I wasn’t going to say anything until you brought up the 07 playoff game and pretty much say Romo chocked by throwing an interception at the end of the game. Why didn’t you mention that he was under pressure all game long, or that all of his receivers dropped multiple balls including Mr.Reliable (#82)? Did you miss the part were balls were dropped that would’ve resulted in first downs on that final drive forcing Romo to throw a Hail Mary into the end zone on 4th down with time running out??? The owners, coaches, and team failed Romo multiple times throughout his career. It wasn’t always on him.
Tony chokemo 😂
thank you Sean Payton for the free agent contract
I saw a meme a few years ago, Romo saying “ he knows the defensive plays before they happen, wishes he had that ability when he played” 🤣🦅🦅🦅🦅
Romo will always suck 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅 still, I miss when my Eagles sack him
This didn’t help his case tbh. He still wasn’t good
He was a pretty good quarterback but he is an all-time great announcer
Brady used to hold kicks all the time, it was common place
I thought Romo was a great QB. He had that rare QB magic, could pull off great plays when you needed him to, he just also got some of those wrong as well.
Romo looked exact same as a kid lol
Cowboys shouldn't've even been CLOSE in games they blamed Romo for losing at the end. The reason they were still in those games was usually because of something miraculous he did. He'd make 3 or 4 absolute miracle plays to keep those games close, and all people noticed was he didn't deliver the 4th or 5th miracle for the win. His body was broken by the time Dak waltzed into the picture. Dak's career started with the supporting cast Tony never got, and he got a lot more love than Tony ever got for doing less than Tony ever did, in my humble opinion.
Never heard anywhere he sucked. He was just injury prone that's all I'd had taken him in Cleveland in a heartbeat
Romo was the goat, I don't care what anyone thinks. And he just got better and better after having to carry shit teams his entire career.
If Demarco didn't fumble early in the game on a play that should have been a touchdown Cowboys win that playoff game easy. Dez caught it anyways, such bullshit.
I love how your videos are not biased and you just give the straight facts. I also think it’s worth mentioning that Romo never really had a championship team around him either. They lost most of the games that he didn’t play in due to injury.
4:12 why not do a video on his substance abuse?
A few bad plays try plenty romo is never was.....never won shit
wow thats an amazing story about his family. grandfather in poverty flees mexico. father join the service. and now romo making MILLIONS thats so cool. thank you so much for telling us this story very inspirational.
I wish we still had sean Peyton smh
I thought he sucked Balls from day one and all the way to the end.
Please name me any Qb that can win with bad offensive line and bad defense and no running game. Imagine what he can do with this team now.
Flem,,, you wearing gloves?
You can say tony romo sucks but nobody can say he wasn't tough. I remember a game he got a cracked rib or something and he came back in and played n I think he won
Romo better than Dak
He was a good quarterback that couldn't win in the playoffs. He is a great commentator though.
I think you conclusion that he's not great, after talking about his coaching staff, defense, offensive line is a bit off. Dude carried this team for so long. Had Parcells stuck around, I think the narrative changes.
Dak wont get it done in dallas either
I’m a giants fan so I hate the cowboys but damn towards the end of the career I was cheering for tony romo, I felt bad when our D line broke his collar bone back when Dak first came into the league .
